Russian Senator: There is a chance if not for peace, then for a  ceasefire

Therefore, they  should not be on either side," wrote Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of  the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, on his  Facebook page.

In addition, he noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin "showed  his political will in full," and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov  implemented it. The senator also expressed gratitude to Baku and  Yerevan for the meeting in Moscow.

"Now the main responsibility, of course, lies on the parties to the  conflict. There is a lot of difficult ahead - to agree on the  specific parameters of the ceasefire, organize the exchange of  prisoners and the bodies, sit at the negotiating table. But the fact  that after ten hours of complicated consultations it was possible to  end the bloodshed is beyond praise, "added Kosachev.

The parties agreed on a ceasefire from 12:00 on October 10. It is  noted that the parameters of the ceasefire regime will be agreed upon  additionally. It also became known that Baku and Yerevan agreed to  begin an exchange of prisoners and bodies after the ceasefire came  into force.

In addition, Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the mediation of the OSCE  Minsk Group co-chairs, on the basis of the basic principles of the  settlement, are starting substantive negotiations with the aim of  achieving a peaceful settlement as soon as possible.

The talks were held in Moscow and lasted more than 10 hours in a  completely closed format. Before the start of negotiations, the  parties refrained from even opening statements. The Foreign  Ministries of Armenia and Azerbaijan arrived in Moscow on October 9  at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
