French Embassy in Armenia will assist in the translation into  Armenian language of Valerie Manteau`s "Le Sillon" novel about Hrant  Dink

ArmInfo. French Embassy in Armenia will assist in the translation into Armenian of the novel "Le Sillon "by the Istanbul writer of Armenian origin Valerie Manteau.

The message of the French Embassy in Armenia reminds that today 66  years ago, in 1959, writer, publicist and journalist Hrant Dink was  born, who was killed on January 19, 2007 in Istanbul at the office of  his newspaper "Agos".

The report notes that the French Embassy will assist the Newmag  publishing house to translate and publish this novel in Armenian. The  Armenian translation is scheduled to be published on January 19, 2021  in commemoration of the murder of Hrant Dink.

To note, the novel "Le Sillon" by the Istanbul writer of Armenian  origin Valerie Manteau was published in August 2018. This is her  second book, which tells about the life of the writer, publicist and  journalist Hrant Dink, who lived in Istanbul and published the  Armenian-Turkish newspaper Agos there.

And already in November 2018, the novel received one of the most  prestigious literary awards in France - Renaudot.

The 33-year-old writer received the award on November 7 in Paris. In  her speech, she noted that she was fascinated by Grant's ideas, and  the idea to write a book about him was born when she read Dink's  biography. "Dink's political position was very interesting. His goal  was not only to prove that he was right, but to get people to talk  openly with each other, he wanted to ensure progress," Valerie  Manteau said.

Valerie Manteau is a former employee to the satirical magazine  Charile Hebdo. It came as a surprise to her to receive the book  award, as she was not listed in the top five books of the  competition.

Renaudot is a French Literary Prize, created in 1926 by ten  journalists and literary critics awaiting the results of the  discussion of the Goncourt Prize. Thus, the Renaudot Prize became a  kind of addition to Goncourt. Traditionally, both prizes are awarded  on the same day - the first Tuesday in November.

To note, Hrant Dink was killed on January 19, 2007 in Istanbul in  front of the building of his newspaper "Agos". However, those who  ordered the crime were never identified. The court sentenced only the  killer - Ogun Samast  to imprisonment for a term of 22 years and 10  months, and Yasin Khayal, accused of incitement to murder, to life  imprisonment. On September 17, 2013, the trial resumed. And on  January 19, 2015, former Cizre police chief Ercan Demir was arrested  within the framework of the case, but the investigation has not yet  been completed, and the orderer has not been found. According to the  decision of the European Court of Human Rights, the Turkish  authorities violated Hrant Dink's right to life and the right to  freedom of speech. The ECHR sentenced Turkey to pay 133 thousand  euros to the family of Hrant Dink.
