``Lazarev Club`` discussed a wide range of issues:from  Armenian-Russian relations to regional conflicts and geopolitical  actors

ArmInfo. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must remain "frozen." This opinion was  expressed at a meeting of the Lazarev Club in Yerevan on November 30  by Russian political analyst Stanislav Tarasov.

"Russia is the guarantor of Armenia's security  and Armenian-Russian  relations should develop against all odds, military-technical  cooperation should be strengthened," he stressed.

Speaking about the regional situation, the political scientist noted  that the one who first starts a war in the region will lose.  According to him, this is precisely the reason for cautious US policy  in the region.  At the same time, he stressed that there is no  Armenian-American and Armenian-Georgian relations - but there is a  common US confederative policy in the region, moreover there is a  theory about the establishment of an Armenian-Georgian confederation.

Tarasov also believes that the projects of Greater Georgia and  Greater Azerbaijan considered earlier indicate that the border  between Armenia and Turkey along the Araks River has never been  perceived as stable, but only as a temporary one.

In turn, Konstantin Sivkov, Deputy President of the Russian Academy  of Rocket Forces and Artillery, stated that the world is experiencing  a global crisis, and the assumptions that the global crisis has  stopped are premature. "Within the framework of the existing world  order, it is impossible to resolve the contradictions, especially  when it comes to resource consumption. There is a problem of  establishing a new world order. The option of US domination is now  being fulfilled. Moreover, the military and economic dominance of the  West has ended, and China has reached the United States in terms of  GDP. Besides, the threat of criminal structures, such as ISIS, is  growing. The nuclear potential prevents the world from slipping into  chaos, "he stressed.

According to Sivkov, the US priorities in geopolitics have changed  somewhat, shifting to the Middle East region, having the ultimate  goal to stifle the Chinese economy, which in turn increases the  threat of hybrid wars. "Russia and Armenia are actually covered by a  network of instability, which affects security.  Russian-Armenian  relations are of key importance against this background, since the  struggle for the region becomes more tense," the Russian expert said.

Another Russian expert Nikolai Bobkin,  senior research employee at  the Center for Military-Political Studies of the Institute of the USA  and Canada of Russia's Academy of Science, also agreed that Armenia  is not just of strategic importance for Russia, but vital for the  defense of the southern borders of the Russian Federation. "Of the  three former republics of the Transcaucasus, Armenia has remained the  only faithful, reliable, and most importantly, promising ally.  Naturally, the United States does not like it. However, the United  States states that the events in the South Caucasus do not directly  affect the interests of the United States. Therefore, Washington  often thinks that the region is unlikely to be in the spotlight in  the near future, despite the fact that the United States could not  change the dominant position of the Russian Federation and Moscow's  opposition to American intervention in the region, " Babkin said,  while adding that the United States does not have a clear policy in  the South Caucasus. According to the expert in this regard,  Washington's relations with Yerevan, Tbilisi and Baku will remain  under the influence of relations with Moscow and Ankara and will be  interconnected with events in the Middle East.

MP of the National Assembly of Armenia of the sixth convocation  Artashes Geghamyan assured during his speech that if Russia is in  danger than Armenia will be in danger too, and vice versa, despite  the incompatibility of the states' sizes. "The thesis that the United  States does not have a clear policy towards the South Caucasus is  incorrect and lulls vigilance. I would like to recall the role of  Iran for Armenia. At one time, during the Karabakh war, Iran was the  only one who did not close the border with Armenia. It is quite  understandable Iran's role for us, and the United States, cannot but  be aware of this, "he said, adding that America is actively promoting  its policy by hiding subsidies under the code names 'Strengthening  Democracy' and 'Strengthening Civil Society'.

Geghamyan recalled that on May 28, "after the change of power in  Armenia," Pompeo officially informed the Armenian side that the issue  of providing $ 140 million of aid to support the efforts of the  Armenian authorities was under consideration. I am not politicizing.  I'm just stating facts. And the facts show that the United States and  its strategic ally Israel are trying to achieve the creation of chaos  managed by them in the security zone around Karabakh, which, by the  way, has direct contact with Iran, " Geghamyan said.

The politician also recalled that Azerbaijan has already bought  weapons for a huge amount, and now it intends to produce Israeli  weapons under license. "Their minister says that he is ready at any  moment to start a war against Armenia and Artsakh. At the right  moment, when the commander-in-chief, that is, Aliyev instructs to do  that. If war starts, it will turn into a tragedy not only for  Armenia, but also for Azerbaijan. Let's remember that in the April  war the losses of the Azerbaijani side were 10 times greater than the  losses of the Armenian. The Armenian people will not allow genocide  in the 21st century. The war in Armenia will turn into a war in the  North Caucasus, and Russia will not allow such a scenario, "Geghamyan  expressed conviction.

Meanwhile, Khosrov Harutyunyan, a member of the Armenian parliament  from the Republican faction, expressed his conviction that in order  to exert pressure on Iran attempts would be made to use the Nagorno-  Karabakh conflict and talk about the settlement option of  "land for  peace" is not accidental. It can be stated that Russia and Armenia  Russia freely interprete their allied commitments. There is an  intention to take Azerbaijan under military-political control by  selling weapons, but as a result, heavy weapons are given to a  country that does not hide its aggressive goals towards Armenia.  Azerbaijan's goal is to capture Yerevan and this is not just  nonsense, but a way of thinking ", Harutyunyan concluded.
