The head of the OSCE / ODIHR observation mission,  Ambassador Ursula Gahek, said this at a press conference in Yerevan  on November 13, responding to a question about the suddenness of  early election dates and the possible impact of early elections on  the process of organizing them.

She noted that they had already met with the leadership of the CEC.   "They have a difficult job ahead of them, but the CEC assured us that  they would work as quickly as possible. The parties also began  preparing lists. Of course, from a political point of view, there was  suddenness, however, we haven't yet fixed any obstacles in the  list-making process. If such processes will be noticed, they will  find a place in the report ", Gacek said.  Answering the question  whether it is not enough 12 days to conduct a campaign, the head of  the observation mission stated that there are no accepted standards  on this issue. "Yes, indeed, the official election campaign will last  12 days, but there are no prohibiting mechanisms for holding a number  of events before that. Each country has its own legislation and its  own approaches to this issue", she said.

Touching the question of changing the Electoral Code, Gacek said that  they were informed that there were attempts to make changes to the  EC, but the parliament did not approve them. "In this election, we  will act according to the old Electoral Code, and we will fix  everything we see", she concluded.
