Pashinyan: Trudeau supports the changes taking place in Armenia

ArmInfo.I am glad to state that Armenia and Canada have similar positions on many issues of the international and bilateral agenda. The head of the Armenian  government Nikol Pashinyan said this today at a joint press  conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during his  official visit to Armenia in Yerevan.

He assured that Trudeau is well informed about the events in Armenia  in terms of establishing the rule of law and democracy, and supports  these changes. Pashinyan also stated that a warm, friendly  environment reigns between the two countries, which should be used   for development of  business ties.  In turn, Prime Minister of Canada  Trudeau stressed that public support is necessary for the  implementation of democratic reforms in the country. "We are united  by the desire to establish public justice, and on this basis we will  continue our cooperation," said Trudeau.

He stressed that the Armenian-Canadian relations have historical  roots, from the time of the resettlement to Canada of Armenian  refugees, who later became an integral part of this country and  enriched its culture and social life. "60 thousand Armenians live in  Canada now. We have always welcomed the immigrants, they enrich the  country, its life. And now we, like Armenia, warmly welcomed refugees  from Syria," noted Trudeau.

He recalled that his friendship with Armenia began in deep childhood,  when he in 1984 with his father, the then Prime Minister of Canada,  visited Soviet Armenia at that time. "And now I am very impressed  with my visit to Armenia, the warm welcome extended to me, as well as  the high level of organization in Yerevan of the 17th Francophonie  Summit. My current visit to Armenia will further strengthen our  relations," Trudeau said.
