In Moscow on Tverskaya there was a presentation of a new diasporal  organization created in opposition to the Union of Armenians in  Russia

On the eve of June 7, a presentation of the new public organization "Union of Armenians of Russia" (UAR) was held in one of the central hotels of Moscow.  About  400 Armenians gathered in the Marriot Grand Hotel, including businessmen, representatives of Armenian youth associations, cultural and art figures, and representatives of some Armenian media.  Representatives of the Armenian Embassy in Russia were invited to the presentation.

Special guests of the event were the president of the construction  holding "Rucog" - Ruben Grigoryan and the director of the Repat  Armenia Fund Vardan Marashlyan, widely known in business circles.

Already in the foyer, the participants actively discussed the new  initiative - some enthusiastically welcomed her, others - predicting  her short life, wondered if the newly created structure was an  alternative to the Union of Armenians of Russia. The initiators  eloquently disprove such implicatures, urging compatriots to peace  and harmony within the framework of a new organization. However, it  is not out of place to emphasize that among the initiators of the new  association of Armenians is the Armenian Museum of Moscow and the  culture of nations, the founder of which is the special guest of the  event Ruben Grigoryan.

According to the rumored rumors, it is the head of the "Rukog" who is  the main sponsor of the new organization, which is created according  to the same rumors as opposed to the Union of Armenians of Russia and  the church, which also claims to be the main community of Moscow.

In memory, an unpleasant story is still fresh with the creation of an  interactive museum on the territory of the Armenian Apostolic Church  dedicated to the Armenian Genocide, which ended in irreconcilable  hostility between Archbishop Ezras and Ruben Grigoryan.

Some of the participants recalled the recent business conflict of the  head of the "Rukog" with the president of the Union of Armenians of  Russia Ara Abrahamyan. The face of open struggle for the illusory  opportunity to become a key structure in Moscow, representing the  interests of the Armenian Diaspora.  One way or another, in the  struggle for power, each of these structures - the ATS, the church,  and the UAR, most likely clearly understand the perimeter of their  influence, beyond which is fraught with negative consequences for the  Armenian community in Moscow.

The new association defined common goals and objectives, which are  reduced to enhancing the image of Armenians, harmonizing interethnic  relations, protecting the interests of the Armenian community of  Russia, and so on. The founders were defined and with the principles  - representativeness, transparency, non-engagement and commitment to  the Armenian community. At the same time, the organization does not  yet have clear and understandable mechanisms for solving vital  problems for the Diaspora, mechanisms for interaction with Armenian  associations in the regions of Russia, and there are no clear  ideological guidelines. It remains to be hoped that the new  organization will not share the sad fate of its predecessors, proudly  dragging their own existence in the hope of being seen.

Without going into deep politics, however, we note that our state is  compelled to balance today between two global players in an attempt  to find a compromise solution that will allow Armenia to promote  national interests in the world arena without being forcibly drawn by  one of the parties. This perspective is also gloomy, as is the hope  for the creation of a strong Diaspora in Russia. In any case, it is  of fundamental importance that the Armenian community of Russia,  while maintaining the maximum adherence to its roots, demonstrates  unshakable loyalty to the Kremlin at the right moments. There is no  alternative to this scheme today, as is the case with UAR, some  inertness of which must be considered in the context of the same  loyalty.
