Mnatsakanyan: It is necessary to exclude any actions that could harm  the atmosphere of peace

Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said this in an interview with the "Banadzev" program,  referring to reports on the construction of a new strongpoint of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the direction of Nakhijevan and Yerevan's position on this issue.

In his opinion, the Armenian Defense Minister will be able to more  clearly answer this question. "But our visit to the border was of a  warning nature from the point of view that such questions are at the  center of our attention, both mine and the defense minister." We have  already stressed that any process that will impede negotiations is  unacceptable. to avoid such developments of the situation. At the same time, the minister stressed that Armenia intends to  continue participating in the negotiation process to achieve a  peaceful solution to the problem. According to him, Armenia will do  this within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, and it is  necessary to exclude any actions that could harm the atmosphere  conducive to peace.

Answering the question about what he means by the expression "the  formation of an atmosphere conducive to peace," Mnatsakanyan noted  that statements periodically sounded from Baku - their essence,  content does not contribute to the establishment of peace and  stability in the region. "It is extremely important for us,  negotiations can not be conducted in an atmosphere where there is  enmity," Mnatsakanyan said.

Touching upon a possible meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart or  discussing the issue of organizing the Aliyev-Pashinyan meeting,  Mnatsakanyan urged not to hurry. He recalled that he had conducted  telephone conversations with various officials who played a direct  role in this process. According to him, Armenia with the calculated  steps will continue this process. "Immediate contacts will be when we  reach this, I'm not talking about months, I'm talking about weeks, we  are in this process," the minister assured.

Speaking about the mood of Armenia and the way in which negotiations  will be conducted, Mnatsakanyan recalled that there is a process. "We  appreciate this, and we are preparing and intending to do what has  been done so far and build a process on this basis."
