RPA to support the candidacy of 1/3 of deputies

ArmInfo.The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will not nominate its candidate at the meeting of the National Assembly on May 8 and will support the candidacy, which is  supported by a third of deputies. The leader of the parliamentary  faction of the Republican Party Vahram Baghdasaryan told journalists  about it at the end of the RPA meeting.

At the same time, according to Baghdasaryan, at the special meeting  in the parliament, the Republican Party deputies dispelled a part of  the existing fears about the future of the country. Nevertheless, as  he stressed, the most important of them, which are the cornerstone of  the development of the country, have remained. At the same time, as  RPA MP pointed out, it is completely unfair, but, nevertheless, the  silently and patiently ruling party swallowed the grievances that  groundlessly sounded against the Republican Party.

Meanwhile, considering the imperative of today - to return the  country to its natural course, the RPA made a decision on May 8 at a  parliament session not to nominate its own candidate and support a  candidate supported by one-third of the NA deputies.

At the same time, the party calls on the opposition to ensure the  normal course of activity of all state structures in the republic, to  unlock the streets, establish an atmosphere of tolerance and return  to the constitutional field.

The elections of the Prime Minister of Armenia will be held in the  parliament on May 8 at 12:00.  Yesterday, on May 1, a candidate from  the Elk faction Nikol Pashinyan was nominated at the special meeting  of the National Assembly of Armenia for the post of prime minister,  and failed. 

Pashinyan said that after rejecting the popular candidate for the  premieres, the RPA buried itself completely. "So tomorrow we are  announcing a total strike. From 8:15 am, we close all the streets and  roads, as well as the way to the airport and the railway, I say it as  a popular candidate for premieres. "We won, but the Republican Party  refuses to recognize this victory, but we will bring it to the end,"  Pashinyan said, urging the police to join the popular movement. At  the same time, the oppositionist again reminded that his struggle is  exclusively peaceful, and there should be no violent actions during  the actions. "Just ignore the Republicans, make them political  marginals, as if these people do not exist at all," Pashinyan said,  again putting forward the demand to elect him as prime minister  without preconditions and alternatives.
