Baku denies: The fact of detention and expulsion of an Estonian  citizen of Armenian origin is not known

ArmInfo.The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is not aware of the scandalous incident with the deportation of a citizen of Estonia of Armenian origin from Baku.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan  has requested Turan agency to inform that they are not aware of the  fact of the detention and expulsion of a Estonian citizen. - said in a statement.

It should be noted that the Estonian citizen, adviser to the chairman  of the Tallinn City Council Karina Oganesyan, who flew to the  international conference of teachers in the Estonian delegation, was  expelled from Azerbaijan because of her Armenian origin. Armenian  Ambassador to Estonia Tigran Mkrtchyan in this connection on his  Facebook page presented the details of the incident and assessed the  actions of Baku. 

Thus, Mkrtchyan wrote that on March 23, an Estonian citizen, adviser  to the chairman of the Tallinn city council Karina Hovhannisyan as a  member of the Estonian delegation flew to Baku to attend an  international conference of teachers. "Oganesian officially received  an electronic visa and went to Baku as a member of the delegation,  however, upon arrival at the airport, the Azerbaijani authorities"  noticed an omission "- her Armenian origin and did not allow entry  into the country. After 12 hours of detention in a special zone, she  was sent back to Estonia: This behavior once again demonstrates the  intolerant, racist nature of the Azerbaijani authorities, which is  once again cynical with the Armenian values alien to it, "the  Armenian Ambassador wrote. At the same time, the Armenian diplomat  expressed hope that the Estonian side will draw conclusions and  respond adequately to this incident, defending the interests of its  citizens. In his opinion, European institutions should not remain  indifferent to the incident, since Estonia is a member of the EU. .  It should be noted that this is not the first time when citizens of  another state of Armenian origin are refused entry to Azerbaijan.
