ArmInfo. In the Association with Europe, the expanded Armenia-EU partnership will not grow. In any case, it is not necessary to predict such a development of events  today. A similar opinion was expressed by the Director of the  Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of  Armenia, Professor Ruben Safrastyan. 

On November 27, Armenia signed the Agreement on Comprehensive and  Enhanced Partnership with the EU on the margins of the Eastern  Partnership Summit in Brussels. Signatures under the agreement in the  presence of the president. 

RA President Serzh Sargsyan and Chairman of the European Council  Donald Tusk were appointed by the RA Foreign Minister Edward  Nalbandian and the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogerini. The  agreement will come into force after ratification by the parliaments  of Armenia and 28 EU member states.

"In my opinion, Yerevan's integration preferences are still reflected  in the membership in the EAEC, and I do not see the prerequisites for  changing its preferences in favor of European integration. In the  end, if Armenia were to sign a full-scale association with Brussels,  or would aspire to this as much it is often presented, it would have  been done, as planned in 2013, "- the professor is convinced.

Safrastyan, at the same time, considers the agreement signed on  November 24 as a promising opportunity to continue and develop  reforms in Armenia. The professor also expressed the hope that the  agreement with the EU will play the role of accelerator for the  reform of various spheres in Armenia.

The agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership has already  become public. The accent in the extensive 357-page document is put  on the affirmation of justice, freedom, security in Armenia;  reforming the Constitution and the judiciary; observance of human  rights and fundamental freedoms, etc. All this is provided that the  European Union participates in financing various projects in Armenia.
