Mogherini :Armenia-EU agreement supports solution of Karabakh  conflict in accordance with international law

ArmInfo.The agreement signed by Armenia and the EU supports the solution of the Karabakh conflict in accordance with the norms of international law, signing the  Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership with the EU, the  head of European diplomacy, Federica Mogherini, with the Armenian  Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

On November 24, Armenia signed the Agreement on Comprehensive and  Enhanced Partnership with the EU on the margins of the Eastern  Partnership Summit in Brussels.  "In this light, the work of the  mediators of the OSCE Minsk Group in the negotiations on the  settlement of this conflict is extremely important," she said.

Noting that such an agreement was signed with a member state of the  Eurasian Union for the first time, Magerini stressed the necessity  and importance of engaging the agreement in order to extract the  benefits expected from it.

In his turn, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian assessed the  agreement as supporting the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs  on the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, based on the  three principles of international law. And as one of the most  important outcomes of the Brussels summit, which opened a new chapter  in the relations between Armenia and the European Union. According to  him, the parties laid the foundation for broader economic and  sectoral contacts, increasing the mobility of citizens.

The agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership has already  become public. The accent in the extensive 357-page document is put  on the affirmation of justice, freedom, security in Armenia;  reforming the Constitution and the judiciary; observance of human  rights and fundamental freedoms, etc. All this is provided that the  European Union participates in financing various projects in Armenia.
