Expert: Armenia successfully builds its political vector of  development, paying attention to the interests of big international  facts

ArmInfo. Ambassadors of different states in Armenia from time to time make statements on various issues, and they are different from the point of view of  diplomatic ethics. Such an opinion was expressed on August 28 at a  press conference in Yerevan by the director of the Caucasus Institute  Alexander Iskandaryan, referring to the statement of US Ambassador  Richard Mills concerning the fact that the US wants to give Armenia  tools to continue making sovereign decisions.

According to the political expert, there are absolutely sovereign  states in the world and even US in some issues is forced to reckon  with the interests of other countries, for example, such as Saudi  Arabia. "Armenia is building its political vector of development,  taking into account the interests of major international actors. And  I note that today Armenia successfully manages relations with the  United States, Russia, Georgia, and the European Union. I believe  that this is precisely the sovereignty of Armenia today, and if at  some point it will be possible to expand the instruments of  interaction, this can only be welcomed, "the expert said.

To note, US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills stated in his  interview with Radio Svoboda that Armenia is doing a good job  balancing relations with all its neighbors, including with Russia and  Iran, as well as with the US and the European Union. "Upon my arrival  in Armenia, my position was clear: the US never viewed its relations  with Armenia as a game with a" zero "result, that is, when our  relations became stronger and deeper, however, Armenia's relations  with other countries would have worsened. This was never the goal of  the US government, and I do not think this is the goal of the  Armenian government. But we made it very clear that our goal is to be  sure that Armenia can make sovereign decisions about which way it  chooses, what economic and political model it chooses, "the  ambassador said.

He stressed that United States wants to give Armenia the tools to  continue to make sovereign decisions and not succumb to pressure from  other states. "I think we have a good example in terms of Armenia's  ability to balance its interests and work with the United States.  This is Armenia's participation in the NATO exercise "Decent  partner", which took place in early August this year in Georgia.  Armenia should be proud of being the only member of CSTO to take part  in these exercises, and made a very important contribution by  providing a medical service that served all participating countries.  This helped the Armenian armed forces, these exercises and ensuring  security in Europe, "the Ambassador said.
