Naira Zohrabyan: "Prosperous Armenia" will continue electoral campaign in Gyumri

ArmInfo. Mayor candidate  Vardevan Grigoryan from Prosperous Armenia Party will continue  electoral campaign in Gyumri, Head of PAP Faction Naira Zohrabyan  told ArmInfo's correspondent on September 22.

According to her, he does not intend to withdraw his candidacy  because of his son's death and will continue to run for the mayor's  position. At the same time she stressed that she and other members of  the faction will lead the electoral campaign. "Political team of the  party takes the responsibility for continuing election campaign", she  stressed. 

Zohrabyan also added that she does not believe that Vardevan  Gevorgyan's son Arshak has committed suicide. "We will be consistent  to reveal the real circumstances. I cannot understand how a person  who was carrying out organizational tasks in the campaign  headquarters minutes before, could commit suicide. Or how could he  commit suicide with his left hand when his is right-hander?" she  stressed. At the same time the MP added that the criminal case has  been initiated on incitement to suicide. "It is not clear who could  cause him to commit suicide, decisive statements of the law  enforcement bodies that it was a suicide are also strange", Zohrabyan  noted adding that the investigation should provide answers to all the  unclear questions. She added that the situation in Gyumri is rather  tense related to the incident. 

According to preliminary investigation data of the Investigative  Committee, on September 20, 2016 from 12:30 to 13:00 Arshak  Grigoryan, born in 1990, committed a suicide in their basement with a  rifle of "Makarov" model procured illegally.  Through inspection of  the site, the rifle of 'Makarov" model with charged cartridges, a  capsule, as well as a bullet was found. A criminal case was initiated  according to the Part 1 of the Article 110 and the Part 1 of the  Article 235 of RA Criminal Code.  Through inspection of the site  necessary samples were taken and forensic examinations were  commissioned to find circumstances significant for the criminal case.  

The Investigative Committee informs that a number of persons were  interrogated, including the victim's relatives, friends. The relevant  subdivisions of the police were tasked to take operative- searching  measures.  During preliminary investigation it was found that there  are cameras at the area the videos of which have been confiscated and  video recording examination has been commissioned.
