RA Investigative Committee announces solving of contract killing:  ex-premier`s son detained 

ArmInfo.  The Investigative Committee (IC) of Armenia has announced the solving of a contract killing organized on the orders of the former head of the Artashat community and a former member of the Armenian parliament.

According to media reports, the murderer is Argam Abrahamyan, the son  of former Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan, who is the  son-in-law of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan.  Thus, according to the department, it was established that the murder  of S. V., committed on April 30, 2023, at the entrance to one of the  houses on Myasnikyan Avenue in Yerevan, was ordered by the former  head of the Artashat community, former member of the National  Assembly A. A. "In particular, A.  A., suspecting his wife E. Ts. of  having a personal relationship with the spiritual pastor S. V., a  member of the religious organization "Christians of the Faith of the  Gospel", as well as of transferring large sums of money to him,  intended to take S. V.'s life out of revenge. However, he decided to  carry out his criminal plan not personally, but through his loyal  security service employee G. Kh., who was financially and personally  dependent on him. Subsequently, A. A., using his influence on G. Kh.,  as well as his loyalty and willingness to carry out his orders,  prompted the latter to take S. V.'s life. G. Kh. on April 30, 2023,  in front of a residential building at the address: Yerevan, avenue  "Myasnikyan, 2, killed S. V. with a firearm," the Investigative  Committee of Armenia reported.

According to the agency, a public criminal prosecution was initiated  against A. A. under paragraph 11 of Part 2 of Article 46-155 of the  Criminal Code (incitement to commit murder by contract). Therefore,  on August 8, 2026, he was detained for presentation to court for the  purpose of applying a preventive measure in the form of detention.  "We remind you that a public criminal prosecution was initiated  against G. Kh. for the unlawful deprivation of life of S. V. under  Part 1 of Article 155 of the Criminal Code (murder) and Part 1 of  Article 335 (illegal trafficking in firearms). Subsequently, in April  2024, the criminal case with an indictment was sent to court," the  Investigative Committee of Armenia summarized.
