RA Investigative Committee presents statistics on domestic violence  cases

ArmInfo.  In the first half of 2026, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reviewed 1,794 criminal cases of domestic violence (1,482 in 2025), of which 712 were  postponed from 2025, and 1,082 were accepted for review during 2026.  This was stated in a statement by the agency.

The Investigative Committee noted that 204 criminal cases were  transferred to court with a criminal conclusion against 213 people  (in 2025: 157 cases against 165 people), 6 cases of compulsory  treatment were transferred to court with a final act (in 2025: 5),  345 criminal cases were terminated (in 2025: 390), of which 323 were  on rehabilitation grounds (in 2025: 356), and 22 on  non-rehabilitation grounds (in 2025:  34), 205 were consolidated (in  2025: 134), 26 criminal cases were transferred to another body (in  2025:  30), 54 cases were registered as completed procedural and  evidentiary actions (in 2025: 38), 954 cases were postponed to 2026  (728 in 2025): Of the 200 cases referred to court, 1 was investigated  for murder, 1 for attempted murder, 1 for incitement to suicide, 2  for causing grievous bodily harm, 6 for causing moderate bodily harm,  18 for causing minor bodily harm, 1 for kidnapping, 2 for illegal  deprivation of liberty, 11 for mental violence, 124 for physical  violence, 8 for sexual violence, 2 for obstructing the exercise of  the right of a parent or other close relative to visit a child, 1 for  failure to fulfill or improper fulfillment of the duty to raise or  care for a child, 1 for evasion of alimony payments, 11 - For failure  to comply with an urgent intervention order, and 10 in connection  with other criminal cases.

Of the 213 defendants in the proceedings referred to court, 150 were  spouses, 20 were partners, 15 were parents or grandparents, 5 were  siblings, 16 were children or grandchildren, 1 was the husband's  sister or brother-in-law, and 6 were sons-in-law or daughters-in-law.

Of the 213 victims in the proceedings referred to court, 13 were  under 12 years old, 3 were 13-14 years old, 5 were 15-18 years old,  and 192 were over 18.
