Opposition`s thesis on authorities surrendering territories worked  only for a short time after the war—Taron Chakhoyan

ArmInfo.Statements about surrendering territories, at the very least, evoke ridicule in the public, as stated by Taron Chakhoyan, an MP from the Civil  Contract party, during a briefing on August 5.

He was commenting at the request of journalists on opposition claims that the authorities are allegedly preparing to surrender new territories after the  upcoming delimitation process.

He noted that talk of surrendering territories and providing an  extraterritorial corridor has been ongoing since 2020. However,  according to him, all the processes that have taken place over the  years have proven otherwise. "There was no corridor. Ultimately,  there is a road that must pass through Armenia's sovereign territory  and operate under Armenia's sovereignty. What kind of territorial  surrender are we even talking about? This is a bubble that burst long  ago. Our society understands very well what is actually  happening,"  Chakhoyan said.

He noted that this thesis only worked for  a short time after the  war. The parliamentarian recalled that such statements were  especially vocal regarding the Syunik region. However, after a short  time, people saw for themselves that this was not the case. Moreover,  the deputy drew attention to the large-scale construction work  currently underway in Syunik. Chakhoyan also stated that the  opposition's expectations and hopes for tensions or another border  conflict to arise between Armenia and Azerbaijan are futile.

"They want to exploit this, take to the streets and gather people  around them, hoping that this will help them change the government.  But that won't happen. Peace will be long-term. And their dream will  not come true," the MP stated.
