Lawyer for Armenian PoW asks Aliyev grant her client phone access to  wife

ArmInfo. The lawyer for Ludwig Mkrtchyan, an Armenian prisoner of war who has been held captive in Baku for 5.5 years, has publicly appealed to Azerbaijani  President Ilham Aliyev, requesting that Mkrtchyan be allowed to  contact his wife.

Luciana Minassian, an Argentine lawyer of Armenian descent and head  of the "Assistance to Armenian Orphans" (SOAR) organization, noted  that Ludwig Mkrtchyan has not spoken to his wife for over a month,  and that the last time he spoke with her was on June 19. " I urgently  and publicly request the Azerbaijani authorities: Mr. President  Aliyev,  allow Lyudvig Mkrtchyan to call his wife Hranush Shahbazyan  immediately,” Minassian wrote on her social media.

She stated that a single  call wouldn't free him, would not cure him,  but it would allow  his wife to hear whether her husband is still  alive and conscious. Minassian said that during a phone conversation  on June 19, Ludwig Mkrtchyan said he had felt so weak that he  collapsed.

It's worth noting that on July 14, the lawyer reported that Ludwig  Mkrtchyan had faced a serious health problem and was fighting for his  life. She then reported that 56-year-old Mkrtchyan's white blood cell  count was 14.27, almost twice the normal level, and was accompanied  by extensive inflammation. He also has severe heart disease: left  ventricular hypertrophy, diastolic dysfunction, and aortic  insufficiency. The Armenian prisoner of war frequently experiences  headaches and dizziness, as well as chest pain.
