I don`t think AI can surpass human creative thought - Sev Ohanian

ArmInfo. As part of the 23rd Golden Apricot International Film Festival, a traditional rendezvous with renowned Armenian-American film producer and  screenwriter Sev Ohanian took place at the AGBU hall.

The meeting unfolded  in a warm atmosphere, allowing attendees to ask  Ohanian questions about both his personal creative path and global  filmmaking in general. Among other things, Ohanian was asked about  artificial intelligence, his attitude toward this technology, and  whether he uses it in his work.

The film producer admitted that he once tried using AI, but it only  led to problems. "He's trying to make decisions for me, saying the  wrong things. I've never trusted technology enough to take it  seriously. Maybe someday I'll change my mind. But not right now,"  Ohanian said. He emphasized that human creativity is priceless and  unmatched. "We need to stay a little further away from AI; we need to  have our own style.  Try to be different! I'm already starting to  doubt the effectiveness of AI and am avoiding it. Maybe one day I'll  be closer, but not now. I don't think artificial intelligence can  surpass our creative thinking," the film producer concluded.

Recall, this year's 23rd Golden Apricot International Film Festival  was held in Yerevan from July 13 to 19.  At the festival, Ohanian was  honored with the "Master" award, which is given for outstanding  creative work and achievements in cinema. Additionally, screenings  were held for his first film, My Big Fat Armenian Family (2008), in  which he made his directorial debut, as well as his recent  Oscar-winning film, Sinners (2026), where Ohanian served as a  producer.
