Aregnaz Manukyan from prison: "I have done nothing for which I should  bear legal or even moral rsponsibility"

ArmInfo.Attorney Tatevik Soghoyan has reported that on July 15, together with attorney Hovhannes Khudoyan, they assumed the defense of political prisoner  and member of the "Mother Armenia" political council, Aregnaz Manukyan.

In a Facebook post, Sogoyan stated that she and Khudoyan visited  Manukyan at the Abovyan penitentiary that evening. According to the  attorney, Manukyan was in good spirits and high morale.

She published a message from Manukyan from Abovyan Prison, which  reads: " Dear compatriots, although you are already aware of the  motives and spirit behind these political persecutions, and I assume  that the daily repressions no longer surprise you, I want to say the  most simple and important thing first: I have not committed any  crime. I have done nothing for which I should bear legal or even  moral responsibility. I have done nothing against my homeland or my  state, regardless of the absurd assumptions contained in the  fabricated charges against me."

She added that she fully understands that many may be confused by the  mysterious veil of the phrase "state secret." According to her, many  are confused by the very existence of such an accusation. "But I  assure you that time and facts will prove my innocence. And  therefore, I am grateful to everyone who hasn't hesitated for a  second to speak out about my political persecution, to everyone who  has supported me, and to all those who fight every day for the  freedom of political prisoners in Armenia. There are absolutely no  factual grounds for the request to remand me in custody. The charges  are based entirely on someone's assumptions and wild imagination. As  a result of these assumptions and the political subordination of law  enforcement officials, I am today completely isolated from the world  and deprived of the opportunity to even speak on the phone with my  13-year-old daughter and 85-year-old mother. This inhumane treatment  by the system was as shocking as it was, unfortunately, expected. I  accept this with readiness as well," the politician added.
