Criminal prosecution has nothing in common with exterprises - Gagik  Tsarukyan

Criminal prosecution has nothing in common with exterprises - Gagik  Tsarukyan

ArmInfo.  What saddens me most these days is that at all the enterprises associated with my name, people have lost the opportunity to go to work and earn a living.  This statement was made by Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous  Armenia Party, a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist who is  currently in prison.

He drew attention to the fact that the government's decision to close  enterprises where ordinary people work and where material wealth is  created deals a blow to entire business sectors nationwide. At the  same time, the philanthropist also pointed out the difficult trials  faced by those earning an honest living. "The unfair criminal case  brought against me has nothing to do with these enterprises. Everyone  knows that I have long since ceased to be involved in their  management, have no connection to their day-to-day operations, and do  not interfere with their work. At the same time, it is also obvious  to everyone that the illegal suspension of these enterprises'  operations is being carried out specifically to hurt me. I would like  to express my hope that common sense will ultimately prevail and that  the work of these enterprises will no longer be hindered. They  provide jobs for thousands of people, and they collaborate with tens  of thousands of partners whose businesses are also suffering  seriously during this period. All of this is causing enormous damage  both to working citizens and to our country as a whole," Tsarukyan  wrote.

He also touched on the process of installing the statue of Christ.  The PAP leader noted that every stone, every step, every meter of  this construction project is precious and important to him. He said  he planned to form a working group to prepare the monument's  unveiling ceremony, which would be attended by distinguished guests  from around the world, famous personalities, international figures,  official delegations, friends of Armenia and the Armenian people, and  representatives of various nations and religions. "I can say that I  have already received confirmation from many influential people who  intend to come to our country to see the new wonder of the world."

All of this must be carefully considered, planned, discussed, and  negotiated. In short, there's still much work ahead. With God's help,  everything will be done. I have a deep and unshakable feeling that  the construction of this statue will usher in a new, bright era for  our country. "This statue should open a new page in the history of  our country, become a new success and a new symbol of our internal  harmony, national revival, and our new vision for the world,"  Tsarukyan wrote.

The businessman also expressed gratitude to all the public figures  included in the large and authoritative list of those who issued a  statement in his support. "Such an act is never forgotten," the  philanthropist emphasized.

As a reminder, on July 6, 2026, law enforcement officers conducted  large-scale searches of Tsarukyan's mansion, as well as more than 70  addresses, including companies within the Multi Group concern, as  part of an investigation into over ten criminal cases. Following  nearly 12 hours of investigative actions, Tsarukyan was detained. The  following day, the court granted the investigators' motion to remand  him in custody for two months.

The politician has been charged under several articles of the  Criminal Code related to corruption offenses, including He is charged  with bribery, bribery, and influence peddling. Tsarukyan himself  denies the charges, and his lawyers call the criminal prosecution  politically motivated and are challenging the decisions of the  investigation and the court.

Several Multi Group enterprises have been sealed. Workers are  protesting, but the authorities have so far shown no reaction,  despite the fact that this not only damages the economy and the  brands of certain internationally renowned Armenian products, but  also creates serious socioeconomic problems for ordinary citizens who  have lost their jobs.

Following the searches, only the Ararat Cement plant resumed  operations after protests and the involvement of representatives of  the Ministry of Economy in negotiations. The remaining companies have  been idle for 10 days now, and none of the authorized bodies has  provided any specific clarification regarding the future of the  enterprises.
