


ArmInfo. World‑renowned Iranian cinematographer Mahmoud Kalari will head the jury of the regional competition of the "Golden Apricot" film festival. Among the festival’s honored guests were pioneers of contemporary Iranian cinema — Abbas Kiarostami, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Jafar Panahi and Asghar Farhadi — and Mahmoud Kalari is the person who, behind the camera, shot many films by these masters.
Since1980s Kalari has participated in the making ore than sixty films, and his photograp the hicrks have beef mo won exhibited in various countries around the world. Asghar Farhadi’s "A Separation," Jafar Panahi’s "Offside," Dariush Mehrjui’s "Leila" and Abbas Kiarostami’s "Through the Olive Trees" are just some of the well‑known films that Mahmoud Kalari helped bring to the screen.
The regional competition program includes the following films: "Safe Exit" (Egypt, Germany, Libya, Qatar, Tunisia), directed by Mohamed Hammad; "Habibi Hussein" (Germany, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sweden), directed by Alex Bakri; "Here, in Another Place" (Belgium, Germany), directed by Koms Shahbazyan; "In Amir’s Soul" (Iran), directed by Amir Azizi; "Poisoned by the West" (Canada, Iran), directed by Gilda Pourjabar; and others. As a reminder, this year the "Golden Apricot" film festival will be held in Yerevan from July 12 to 19. The main screening venues will be the Moscow and Nairi cinemas and the House of Cinema.
