ArmInfo. The RA authorities are trying by all means possible to prevent the Prosperous Armenia Party from entering the country's parliament. The party's press secretary, Iveta Tonoyan, wrote this on her Facebook page.
"What happened to the Central Electoral Commission is nothing less than a classic disgrace. This shameful act, committed secretly in the middle of the night, under cover of darkness, is a direct blow to the Prosperous Armenia Party, whose goal is to prevent it from entering the National Assembly by any means possible," she added, clarifying that she is referring to the invalidation of the election results, in which, according to the press secretary, the party received a large number of votes. According to Tonoyan, this is the most blatant example of election fraud, which once again proves that the current process has nothing to do with the idea of fair and transparent elections and calls into question the legitimacy of the entire electoral process.
"The decision taken grossly violates the constitutional right of citizens to freely express their will. We will fight this illegal process with all possible legal and judicial means. Today, we are appealing this illegal decision and will use the entire legal arsenal to prevent and stop such arbitrary behavior," the PA representative emphasized. She also announced that Prosperous Armenia's next steps will be presented on June 12.
As a reminder, the Central Election Commission's press service previously issued a statement announcing the results of the parliamentary elections at polling stations No. 10/51 and No. 35/65.
National Assembly elections were held in Armenia on June 7. After 100% of the ballots were counted, the ruling Civil Contract party, according to preliminary data, received 49.81% of the vote. The Strong Armenia bloc came in second with 23.29%, the Armenia bloc came in third with 9.94%, and Prosperous Armenia came in fourth with 3.996% of the vote, failing to meet the minimum threshold. Turnout for the parliamentary elections was 58.97%.
