ArmInfo. A significant decrease in the number of ballots cast in favor of the Civil Contract party has been observed at several polling stations currently undergoing a vote recount, as stated by Narek Karapetyan, a political council member of the "Strong Armenia" party, in a video address.
According to him, citizens themselves witnessed how military personnel were brought to polling stations and how civil servants were directed to vote for the ruling political party. Given the violations recorded, the "Strong Armenia" bloc will appeal to the Central Electoral Commission on June 12 demanding the annulment of the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections. The bloc will also demand a review of the votes cast in favor of the Civil Contract party. If there's no quick response, the bloc will appeal to the Constitutional Court. "We must clip the wings of the ruling force in Armenia," Karapetyan said.
He noted that the Civil Contract party's position is highly vulnerable, arguing that the party has lost its absolute majority by securing less than 50% of the vote. Under these current realities, he added, the party lacks the mandate to amend the Constitution as demanded by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
