ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his team will never give up power democratically. This was written on her Facebook page by Metaxe Hakobyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, reacting to the preliminary results of the June 7 parliamentary elections in Armenia.
The MP noted that everyone is discussing this topic in the country today: some are offering advice, calling on the opposition to take action, making "serious" arguments in favor of taking their mandates, while others are demanding that they give up their mandates because they cast their votes for a change of government. "I remain silent and don't want to say anything. I've done everything possible and impossible without flaunting it. And I ignored the 'suddenly emerging' complacency among some. When I remarked that Pashinyan and his supporters would never give up power democratically-they would lie, steal, destroy, and wreck, but they wouldn't-they smiled and told me not to worry, as everything was under control and that this time would be different. And after each such response, I wished only one thing: that I was wrong," Hakobyan wrote.
However, the Artsakh MP regretfully noted that her assumptions had proven correct. Hakobyan pointed out that Armenia, Artsakh, and the Armenian people have been paying for this for eight years now (the number of years Pashinyan has been in power in Armenia - ed.). "Now I remain silent and don't express my opinions, I don't participate in mutual accusations and judgments. I am ready only to continue the fight. The fight is not over. It is not over until Armenia returns to the path of dignity, justice, and national sovereignty, and I return home," the Artsakh MP concluded.
As a reminder, regular parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 7, 2026. Voter turnout was 58.97%. According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan's ruling Civil Contract party, Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia bloc, and second president Robert Kocharyan's Armenia bloc are all in parliament. The remaining candidates scored below the required threshold of 4% for parties and 8-10% for blocs. Notably, businessman Gagik Tsarukyan's Prosperous Armenia Party lost its 4% margin of victory after the Central Election Commission adjusted the preliminary vote counts for the June 7 parliamentary elections. As a result, the party will not be included in the new parliament.
On election day, observers and journalists reported numerous violations by the ruling party during the voting process from early morning. Thus, Pashinyan's party has the opportunity to single-handedly form the country's government by securing a majority of seats in the Armenian parliament. This was solemnly announced by Pashinyan himself late at night, when data from only about 10% of polling stations had been processed.
