ArmInfo. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington is not impeding Armenia's relations with other countries and is not asking Yerevan to reconsider its foreign policy.
"I want to be clear that we are not infringing on Armenia's sovereignty. We are not asking them to abandon their friendships with other countries. We simply want our relations to be built on more than just peace. Peace is important, but it's just the beginning: it opens up economic opportunities," US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at a congressional hearing.
The US Secretary of State noted the importance of signing agreements within the framework of the TRIPP (Trump Route Project). Rubio stated that the project will attract American private investment. However, the Secretary of State noted that the project is not aimed at establishing a monopoly on American business.
"We are not seeking a monopoly on American companies, but we do want them to get their fair share," he noted.
