ArmInfo. Armenia's second president and leader of the "Armenia" alliance, Robert Kocharyan, stated that he suffered the greatest loss during the October 27, 1999 terrorist attack on the Armenian parliament, as he lost a close friend—Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan.
In a podcast with his son, Levon Kocharyan, a member of the opposition Armenia bloc, posted on Facebook,t he politician addressed the events of October 27 and the allegations directed at him. He expressed his conviction that the current Armenian authorities cannot "digest" or accept how the October 27, 1999 terrorist attack was resolved, precisely because its organizers were arrested and convicted during his presidency.
"Tell me what mistakes I should take responsibility for, and I am ready to do so. How could anyone never make mistakes? Today, people mostly associate the events of October 27 with me. In particular, a 'small group' in Armenia [referring to the current authorities-ed.] is attempting to do this. These people cannot "digest" October 27 because the terrorists who organized the attack were arrested, convicted, and remain in prison today thanks to me," the leader of the "Armenia" alliance stated.
At the same time, Kocharyan believes that he suffered the greatest loss that day. "I lost my closest friend (Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan - ed.). This is precisely the most absurd, unpleasant, and incomprehensible thing about all of this. But they also tried to somehow connect this loss to me. This is an injustice of cosmic proportions. For me, it is simply incomprehensible. This is the height of immorality," Kocharyan concluded.
