ArmInfo.A separate meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan in Astana is not planned, but they may talk on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian leader's press secretary, told reporters.
"A separate meeting is not planned, but if they want, they can have a wonderful conversation on the sidelines of the summit," Peskov told reporters on Friday in Astana, where the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit is starting, Interfax reports.
When asked whether Grigoryan would bring a message to Yerevan from the EAEU leaders, Peskov said,
"A restricted-attendance summit is starting now, and sensitive issues will, of course, be discussed there." He added that if Putin and Grigoryan deem it appropriate, their meeting would take place.
He also said that Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko briefly exchanged views on the situation in Armenia on the sidelines of the EAEU leaders' meeting in Astana.
"They spoke several times yesterday on the sidelines. There was a brief exchange of views on Armenia, but there was no substantive discussion; there simply wasn't time. But at the same time, over an informal lunch, they all had the opportunity to have a very good conversation, a fairly lengthy conversation," Peskov said, responding to a question about whether the topic of Armenia had been raised in Putin and Lukashenko's conversations.
