ArmInfo. The Artsakh Representative Office building cannot be the subject of various dirty deals and political bargaining. This was stated by Artsakh National Assembly Speaker Ashot Danielyan in response to the announcement that an Armenian court had invalidated the state registration of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) government's ownership of the Artsakh Representative Office building in Yerevan.
Danielyan noted that, in essence, the Armenian authorities, taking advantage of the fact that public attention is currently focused entirely on the June 7 parliamentary elections, and not content with merely undermining the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, have committed another shameful, illegal, and immoral act against Artsakh and its people through the unprecedented, anti-national transfer of Artsakh to Azerbaijan, in violation of fundamental norms of international law and based on false "justifications," while continuing to promote hatred and discrimination against the Artsakh people.
"For the people of Artsakh, the NKR representative office building is not just real estate or territory, but a place that symbolizes the statehood of Artsakh and provides minimal opportunities for uniting and coordinating efforts to protect the rights of the people of Artsakh, as established by the fundamental norms of international law and confirmed by the decision of the International Court of Justice in November 2023. It cannot become the subject of various dirty deals and political bargaining," the Speaker of the Artsakh Parliament wrote on his Facebook page.
At the same time, he emphasized that such anti-Armenian actions will not break their resolve to restore the rights of the people of Artsakh, who have suffered war crimes and crimes against humanity. "We will continue to seek the return to Artsakh and the restoration of our statehood. We expect that institutions and compatriots in Armenia and the diaspora concerned about the fate of Artsakh will respond to this latest shameful step by the authorities of the Republic of Armenia by expressing their protest in defense of the restoration of our inalienable rights," Danielyan concluded.
As a reminder, on July 16, 2025, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia filed a lawsuit in the Administrative Court against the Cadastre Committee, demanding that the state registration of the NKR government's ownership of the Artsakh representative office building in Yerevan be declared invalid. At a press conference in Yerevan on the same day, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the actions of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia were consistent with his earlier statement that he would not allow a "state within a state" in the country. On February 2, 2026, Yeritsyan stated that the issue of expropriating the building of the permanent representative office of the Republic of Artsakh in Armenia was being considered without the participation of the registered copyright holder. And on May 26, 2026, the lawyer reported that the Chairman of the Administrative Court of Armenia had upheld the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia and declared the state registration of the Republic of Artsakh's ownership of the Artsakh representative office building invalid. The lawyer emphasized that he intends to appeal this decision.
