Iveta Tonoyan: PAP`s legal team to sue PTA for remarks against  Tsarukyan

ArmInfo. The legal team of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) intends to file a lawsuit against the Public Television of Armenia (PTA) for spreading slander and offensive statements against the party's leader, Gagik Tsarukyan. PAP spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan announced this at a press conference in  Yerevan on May 25.

According to her, several days ago, PTA aired a video containing  offensive statements and inappropriate language directed at Tsarukyan  and his family members. "It's regrettable that the Public Television  and Radio Broadcasting Company, which operates at taxpayer funding,  allows this to happen. Our legal team is preparing a lawsuit  regarding the dissemination of slander. We find such behavior  unacceptable. In a political struggle, critical assessments may be  voiced by various forces participating in the elections, but they  must not cross moral boundaries," Tonoyan emphasized.

The PAP spokesperson drew attention to the obvious fact that all  state and administrative resources are currently focused solely on  one thing: silencing political opponents. As part of these processes,  Tonoyan noted, various criminal cases are being launched. In this  regard, she recalled that a case has currently been opened against  Andranik Tevanyan, number two on their electoral list. "Our lawyers  have already stated that they consider this case unfounded and intend  to appeal the decision to arrest Tevanyan. Proceedings related to the  case brought by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia against  Martun Grigoryan are also ongoing. In this regard, I would like to  address the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia and ask:  why isn't  the government's use of administrative resources during the election  campaign being similarly addressed? Where is the Anti-Corruption  Committee looking? At least one case should be brought against  government officials, in particular, against Pashinyan. Before the  elections, pensions were increased, bonuses were paid to civil  servants, and positions were distributed," the PAP press secretary  recalled.

At the same time, she emphasized that despite pressure, threats, and  the initiation of criminal cases, their political force will continue  to adhere to a constructive approach and has no intention of  deviating from its chosen path. "Pashinyan has chosen to create an  atmosphere of fear and hostility. However, it won't work! I want to  assure you that we will not deviate from our path and will continue  to present our vision for the country's development to the public. We  understand that criminal cases against our allies are being brought  to paralyze our team's activities during the pre-election period.  However, it won't work," Tonoyan concluded.
