ArmInfo. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze accused local news agencies and their foreign patrons of trying to set Armenia and Georgia against each other. He expressed this view live on the Imedi LIVE television channel.
Regarding relations with Armenia, he noted that official Tbilisi provides comprehensive support to the friendly neighboring country and the Armenian people.
Kobakhidze also responded to a question about his impression of the attitude of certain forces in Brussels toward Georgia and Armenia.
"Regarding the comparison with Armenia, this is a somewhat awkward topic for us, since we are neighbors, we have very friendly relations, a strategic partnership. Therefore, comparing ourselves to Armenia is incorrect. Of course, we won't go into this; it would be wrong. But overall, I will evaluate the attempts we see here from local agencies and their foreign patrons to somehow contrast us with Armenia, including through comparisons. This will not be successful on any side or in any direction. We fully support our friendly country, Armenia, and the Armenian people. That's the only thing that can be said about Armenia," the Georgian prime minister stated.
He also thanked the Armenian prime minister, who, he said, "demonstrates a unique attitude toward Georgia," expressed through friendly relations, including direct ties between the governments.
"He even directly stated that talking about Armenia's European integration without Georgia is unthinkable. You also remember the statement that followed from a high-ranking European official. He said that Armenia is the shortest route connecting Central Asia with Europe. It seems that, despite economic stagnation and other positive aspects, European bureaucrats don't have a very good understanding of geography," Kobakhidze concluded.
