ArmInfo.Armenia will have to choose between the EAEU and the European Union at some point, and Russia will comprehend Yerevan's choice with understanding, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said.
"Of course, as Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has repeatedly stated, we will respect whatever path the Armenian people ultimately decide to take. They talk about their aspiration to move closer to the European Union. We have said many times that membership in the EAEU and the EU is incompatible. Armenia understands this very well... At some stage, they will have to make that choice, if they decide that they need to make such a choice," he said on the sidelines of the forum in Kazan. "Armenia is a very close country to us, it is an allied state. It is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Collective Security Treaty Organization. And the human ties that unite us are incredibly deep, significant, and very long-standing. And we have great respect for the people of Armenia," Overchuk emphasized, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
