ArmInfo. Icelandic sculptor Rosa Gisladottir's solo exhibition, "Mirror of Time," opened at the Hay Art Center for Contemporary Art. Twenty three works by the artist are on display at the capital's cultural space.
Welcoming those gathered, Rosa Gisladottir said that when she first visited Yerevan several years ago, she fell in love with the building of the Center for Contemporary Art and decided that when the time comes to hold a solo exhibition in Armenia, it would definitely take place there. Today, this idea has become a reality. The artist noted that organizing the solo exhibition required overcoming numerous difficulties, including transporting her works, and expressed delight that the exhibition was finally held. Gisladottir called for special attention to be paid to "Ararat," which is dedicated to Armenia, and "Composition of 11 Mountains," dedicated to Iceland, as Reykjavik is also surrounded by mountains.
At the opening ceremony, it was announced that Rosa Gisladottir would donate five of her monumental works to Yerevan. The sculptures will be located at the intersection of Mashtots Avenue and Saryan Street, known as the "Crossroads of Art," and will enrich the city's artistic landscape.
Rosa Gisladottir is an internationally experienced artist whose works have been exhibited at prestigious venues such as Trajan's Market in Rome, the Asmundarsafn and Einar Jonsson museums, and the Kopavogur Museum and Gallery of Contemporary Art in Iceland.
The renowned Icelandic artist's first solo project was supported by the Yerevan Municipality, the Kentron District Administration, and the Honorary Consulate of Iceland in Armenia. The exhibition will run until August 11th.
