ArmInfo. The Eurovision 2026 Young Musicians Competition will be held in Yerevan on June 6. At its May 14 meeting, the Armenian government approved the allocation of 665 million drams from the Reserve Fund for the organization and holding of the competition.
As RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan noted in her speech, this is the 22nd competition, organized jointly by the European Broadcasting Union and the Public Television of the Republic of Armenia for young classical music performers aged 12 to 21. Armenia will host this prestigious classical art competition for the first time, strengthening its position on international platforms, particularly in classical music. The country's authorities have taken and continue to take steps to transform the republic into an international venue for hosting various events, thereby increasing the country's visibility.
The Minister noted that the choice of the date for the competition was no coincidence; it coincides with the birthday of the world-renowned Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian. The event will be held at the Opera and Ballet Theater, whose 100th anniversary will be celebrated this year. Representatives from 11 countries will participate in the competition: Portugal, Serbia, Belgium, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Greece, and others. A cultural and entertainment program will be organized for guests, allowing them to more fully appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the Armenian people. Armenia will be represented at the competition by 15-year-old Elen Virabyan, who, despite her age, already has experience performing at similar events. Tickets for the competition will be available to Armenian citizens.
