ArmInfo. The British government's claims of alleged Russian interference in the Armenian elections appear absurd amidst London's blatant neocolonialist policies. This was stated in a commentary from the Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom, as reported by TASS.
"The British accusations of interference in the Armenian elections appear even more absurd against the backdrop of Western European agitation in Yerevan. London's neocolonialist policies, which previously contributed to the coup d'etat in Kyiv, are now also targeting Armenia. It's time for the West to stop interfering in the affairs of sovereign states, as seen recently in Moldova and Romania. A hit dog will holler," the diplomatic mission noted.
Earlier, the EU's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, announced the allocation of EUR 15 million to Armenia to "counter Russian propaganda." She also stated that the country "will not be left alone to face foreign interference." According to her, a rapid response team will assist Yerevan in countering potential threats. Moreover, in response to Armenia's request, the EU approved the deployment of a "rapid response team to Yerevan to counter Kremlin disinformation and Russian interference in the parliamentary elections in Armenia" in late April. The EU sent a similar team of approximately 20 people to Chisinau during last year's parliamentary elections "to help the Moldovan authorities identify and counter disinformation emanating from Russia on social media."
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed her readiness to send a similar European mission to Armenia if Yerevan wishes for it.
