
ArmInfo.In Armenia, the number of criminal cases referred to court in 2025 exceeds the 2024 figure by 2,823, or 23.8%, as stated by RA Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan on November 29, while presenting a report on the supervisory body's work over the past year at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on state and legal affairs.
According to her, a total of 41,553 criminal cases were completed in 2025 (38,058 in 2024), including 14,608 cases with charges brought against 16,194 individuals sent to court (in 2024 - 11,801 criminal cases against 13,179 individuals), 61 cases with a petition for the application of compulsory medical measures were sent to court (45 in 2024), and 26,884 cases were dismissed (26,212 in 2024).
As Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan noted, in 2025, 53.4% of criminal cases completed (42.1% in 2024) were considered within 2 months, 17.1% (21.5% in 2024) - within 4 months, 10% (15% in 2024) - within 6 months, 10.5% (11.9% in 2024) - within 1 year, 9% (9.5% in 2024) - more than 1 year. "Thus, 3,495, or 9.2%, more criminal cases were completed in 2025 than in 2024, including 2,807, or 23.8% more criminal cases referred to court with indictments," the Prosecutor General emphasized.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the trend toward shorter preliminary investigation times, as recorded in recent years, continued in 2025. Specifically, the preliminary investigation of 19.5% of criminal cases considered in 2025 lasted more than six months, which is 4% less than the corresponding figure in 2023 and 1.9% less than in 2024. Moreover, more than half of the criminal cases completed in 2025, 53.4%, were considered within two months or less, which is 11.3% more than the corresponding figure in 2024.
Anna Vardapetyan pointed out that from December 5, 2024, to December 31, 2025, 21,458,058,668 drams were transferred to the single account for refunds and 18,437,786,846 drams were transferred to the single taxpayer account. Thus, a total of 39,895,845,514 drams were transferred to the single account for refunds and the single taxpayer account.
