ArmInfo. In Armenia, individuals over 65 will be able to continue working in the civil service. Amendments to the Law "On Civil Service" were approved at a meeting of the RA National Assembly Committee on Labor and Social Affairs on April 29.
In her speech, RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Lusine Kocharyan noted that if an employee meets professional requirements, they will be able to continue working. Previously, this requirement was excluded from the Labor Code for private sector employees, but it remained in effect for the public administration system. Now, this discriminatory provision will be removed. An exception will be made for law enforcement officers, where physical fitness is an important component of their assessment.
Lusine Kocharyan noted that the document also addresses the demographic issue. Armenia's population is aging, and today, those aged 65+ outnumber those under 15.
