Armenian men`s team wins European Weightlifting Championships for   second consecutive year

ArmInfo. At the European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi, the Armenian men's team claimed victory in the overall team event for the second consecutive year The women's team took a respectable third place in the same category.

Armenia  was represented at the tournament by 16 weightlifters – 8  men and 8 women. The gold medalists for the country were Garik  Karapetyan (110 kg), who won his third championship with a lift of  415 kg, Varazdat Lalayan (+110 kg), with a lift of 451 kg, and Emma  Poghosyan (86 kg), with a lift of 248 kg.

Garnik Cholakyan (60 kg) won silver medals for the Armenian team with  a total of 274 kg, Gor Sahakyan (71 kg) with 330 kg, Ara Aghanyan (94  kg) with 381 kg, and Alexandra Grigoryan (58 kg) with 210 kg.  Martin  Poghosyan (79 kg) won bronze with a total lift of 338 kg.
