Khachatur Sukiasyan: Wealthy Armenian citizens should not be involved  in public administration

ArmInfo. Wealthy Armenian citizens should not be involved in public administration. This is the  view of businessman Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the ruling Civil Contract faction.

According to him, the family he represents is worth between $1 and $2  billion, but no one in the family has ever sought political power. A  wealthy person should not manage state institutions, as they will  always be tempted to use power for their own personal gain.

"Property always becomes a tool through which personal gain can be  privileged over the interests of the state. Government agencies must  be vigilant in this matter. Scoundrels who, when they came to power  for 30 years without even having shoes, became owners of large  capital. We all know the events of those 30 years. In 2008-2009, they  had assistants who could call any judge or prosecutor, ordering the  deprivation of property, and those who resisted were detained. The  country is currently undergoing the process of state formation; the  country is in a good position, and in the next two years, the economy  will grow even more rapidly; the figures show this. I recently  learned that the data center in Hrazdan requested 600 MW of  electricity, and this volume corresponds to a nuclear power plant  plus 50% of its capacity," the businessman said.

Returning to the topic of assistants, Khachatur Sukiasyan recalled  Armen Gevorkyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of  Armenia from the opposition "Armenia" faction. According to  Sukiasyan, he called judges and prosecutors, pressuring them to seize  other people's property. Today, this same Armen Gevorkyan owns over  10 units of movable property and about two dozen units of immovable  property. "I have a simple question: who will be held accountable for  all this, even though 17-18 years have passed. How much longer can  this be tolerated? What do they want? It won't be the way they want  it to be.  Armenia will develop, and the country will be led by  politicians who have little business opportunity; it will be ordinary  citizens with a good education. The public understands and sees the  difference perfectly well," the businessman stated.
