According to him, US President Donald Trump, who always talks about  peace, is attacking Armenia's neighbor, threatening to destroy an  entire civilization. "The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran  to the Republic of Armenia made an interesting statement, stating  that 'it's impossible to destroy civilization; there are trees in  Iran that are older than the United States.' On the other hand, right  now, in the same region, another civilization is being destroyed. In  Artsakh, there are also trees and monasteries that are older than  Azerbaijan, the United States, and many others. But no Armenian  government dares to raise its voice. When thousand-year-old churches,  cemeteries, surviving villages and towns are destroyed before your  eyes, and the Armenian government makes no attempt to speak out,  prevent it, or protest internationally, this does not lead to peace,  but only reinforces your inability to resist and creates the  temptation to tear off even larger chunks of you. By this logic,  Aliyev and others will demand anything from us. When the time comes,  Trump can easily send Witkoff to us, who will say that we must give  this part of Armenia to Azerbaijan, declaring: 'Armenians, make a  deal, and then it will all be over,'" the political scientist noted.

According to him, These are the rules of the game today, and if you  have no axis of resistance, no allies, and no guarantee of peace, you  can be ruined amid the smiles and applause of Europeans. "An  important task of our upcoming elections is to neutralize these risks  with our choice. The task of our leaders is to explain to our people  that we can do this by our own choice. We need a new government that  can transform Armenia into a haven of peace in today's turbulent  world, one that can remove our small country from the competitive  zone with the world's most powerful countries," Vahe Hovhannisyan  concluded.
