ArmInfo. The court has upheld the house arrest of Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhyan,  the Primate of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.  During today's hearing, the court rejected a motion filed by the  Archbishop's defense team to either overturn or modify his current  detention.

ArmInfo.  Due to the situation in the Middle East, many countries will begin to reassess their relations with the United States post-factum, including seeking the withdrawal of American bases from their territory. This was stated by  political scientist, American studies expert, and publicist Malek  Dudakov on March 18 during a Moscow-Yerevan video conference on the  topic "The Middle East Crisis and Regional-American Relations."

ArmInfo.  An exhibition by the young Armenian artist Areg Mirijanyan entitled "A Faceless Game" was held at the G. Igityan National Center. In it, the artist addresses one of the most pressing contemporary themes: the loss of  individuality in mass society.

At its March 18 session, the National Assembly Committee on State and Legal Affairs approved amendments to the laws "On Remuneration of Persons Holding State Positions and Civil Service Positions" and "On the  Constitutional Court," submitted by the RA government.

ArmInfo.  In Armenia, the press notification mechanism will be completely replaced by an electronic system. At its March 18 session, the RA National Assembly Committee on State and Legal Affairs approved the first reading of amendments to the law "On Public Notification via the Internet" submitted by the RA government.

ArmInfo.  The Armenian Community of Georgia expressed its deepest condolences on the death of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia.

ArmInfo.  Armenian authorities intend to improve the Criminal Procedure Code, which entered into force on July 1, 2022. At its March 18 session, the RA National Assembly Committee on State and Legal Affairs issued a positive opinion on amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code submitted by Rustat Bakoyan, a member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract  faction.

ArmInfo. In the town of Nor Hachn in Armenia's Kotayk Province, the sister of a deceased Artsakh serviceman, a mother of five, was detained and taken to the Dilijan Investigative Department. The arrest took place late in the evening  in front of her children, three of whom were minors. Artsakh lawyer  Roman Yeritsyan reported this live on his Facebook page.

ArmInfo. Iran does not accept a ceasefire, but if there is an idea for a final end to the war, Tehran will consider it. The Iranian Foreign Minister stated this in an interview with Al Jazeera.

ArmInfo.  Armine Ohanyan, editor-in-chief of the Hraparak newspaper, has been summoned to the Investigative Committee (IC) of Armenia. A criminal case has been opened against her for publicly calling for a violent change of power in Armenia.

ArmInfo. The Committee for the Protection of the Fundamental Rights of the People of Nagorno-Karabakh, established by the Parliament of Nagorno-Karabakh in December 2023, together with the Switzerland-Armenia Association, filed an official complaint in Switzerland against SOCAR Trading SA on March 18, 2026.

ArmInfo. Tehran has confirmed the assassination of Iranian National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani by an American-Israeli tandem.

ArmInfo. Any country that provides its territory to the United States and Israel will become a legitimate target for Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated this in a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani  counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, according to Pars Today.

ArmInfo. Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia fell asleep in the Lord today, 17 March 2026, at the age of 93, leaving behind a long history of pastoral service in the Orthodox Church, world media report. 

ArmInfo.Following the elections, plans are in place for border demarcation and delimitation  in Vayots Dzor over the next five years, as well as the creation and development of tourist clusters in Jermuk, Areni, and Yeghegis, expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors.
